New Passport to my kid

Hi,

I am travelling to Canada by January,2008 end. I am expecting my kid by January,2008 beginning.

I am going alone now. My wife and my kid will join me after 3 months.

My wife is having a passport.(My name is not there in her passport)

I am planning to apply for a passport for my kid next month.

I have the below query.
1. While applying for a passport for my kid,Should i have to submit my passport and my wife passport (Submitting my passport is not possible bcoz i will be travelling by next month end)
2.Should I have to do anything else, other than applying passport for my kid.

what citizenship are you, and what will be the citizenship of the child, where would you be applying for passport
