Parents Indian passport canceled during renewal - is US visa automatically cancelled?

All,
My parents went for renewal of their Indian passport in Mumbai. Their renewal application was accepted and their old passports were returned to them with a stamp stating "PASSPORT CANCELED AND RETURNED"

Does this mean that their US Visa in their old passport is also canceled?

When I renewed my Indian passport at the Indian Consulate in NYC, I got a stamp on my old passport stating "PASSPORT CANCELED VALID VISAS IN PASSPORT NOT CANCELED"

If anyone or their parents had this experience, please shed some light on this.

He is talking about two different things.

He said that in his passport, the text was different than in his parents' passports. And he has a doubt about his parents' passports.
