Indian Citizenship Question

Dear CGI,

I am citizen of India, working in USA on Green Card. I have two sons, one is 3.5 years old and 2nd one is 2 years old.

Both of my sons are born in USA (having US passport and Indian PIO card).

But, we are planning to go back to India and would like to take Indian citizenship for my children.

Please advise what is the procedure to change the citizenship for my sons. (Myself and my wife, both are Indian Citizen holding Indian passport).

I would be grateful to you for the detailed information.

If your children are ever planning to come back to US before they are 18, you can't really apply for Indian citizenship.

Otherwise, you can contact MHA (Ministry in Home Affairs) for getting Indian citizenship. They would loose US citizenship though

Not quite. The US won't allow such young children to lose US citizenship. But the MHA might require them to renounce US citizenship to register as Indian citizens. It's not clear what the MHA would do if you try to renounce the children's US citizenship, and are refused.
