Urgent: Mistake by consulte in passport

Dear Sir,

I recently applied for my new passport and I got it too.
But they have misspelled my mother's name even though the form i submitted has a correct name on it.

What should be done to correct this. Will they do this free?
I have to go to india on 9th March. I work in Virginia and I must take off from work if I want to visit the consulate in NY as that's my juridiction.

they don't even pickup the phone.

please help.
