  • Will Indian immigration officer stamp US passport or PIO on entry?

I entered India today with my baby that has valid US passport and PIO. But the immigration officer did not stamp anything on my baby's passport or PIO card. But he stamped on my Indian passport by the visa page.
Is this how it works for foreigners? Someone please respond. Thanks in advance.

For a US citizen with a PIO card, it's normal for them to stamp the US passport.

To avoid problems at a future passport check, it may be a good idea for you to ask the FRRO to correct the missing entry stamp for the baby.

Nothing is ever stamped in PIO card during exit/entry anywhere. If any officer (in US or other countries) has a confusion what PIO card is, just tell them it is "Indian Greencard" to simplify matters.

It is the passport that gets stamped.
