  • PIO application question

    Hi,
I am planning to apply for PIO card for my son. In the PIO application form for SFO, there is a section (question 3-c)asking to provide Permanent verifiable address in India. Both mine and my wife's passport have got old Indian address which has changed. So can I provide my father's (i.e applicant's Grand father) passport as a address proof since it has the correct address?
Also in the "required documents" section at the bottom of this New page, it says a Notarized copy of Parents Indian Passport is required for children born in USA. Is this required if we provide Grand father's passport copy?

Notarized copies are required if you don't want to submit original passport. I submitted PIO card application for my daughter today at Chicago Consulate and there was a case like yours. He was asked to bring in notarized copy. Still you might want to check-up with your consulate.

    Hope it helps.

Thats correct. For Indian address no documentation is required.

Not to confuse you, my reply was regarding Parent's/Grand Parent's Passport Copy to establish eligibility. Your second part of the question.

        Hope it helps.

          Okay.
          So to confirm my understanding,
1.) no address proof is required for Indian Address mentioned in PIO card application.
2.)And if my (i.e Applicant's Father's) Indian passport address is different from the Indian Address mentioned in PIO application, that's fine.
          Is that correct?
