Seems like I have gotten myself into a complicated situation. Appreciate some advice on how to untangle this.
I am a Canadian national with a PIO card working in Gurgaon. When I came to India over a year ago, I was told (wrongfully) by my employer that I do not need to register with the FRRO. I have to sort out the mess now.
- I have not registered myself with the FRRO yet
- Meanwhile my passport expired and I got it renewed in Delhi at the embassy
Now I have to get 2 things done:
a) Register with the FRRO with the new passport. I will keep the old passport with me. They might ask for the new passport endorsement in my PIO card
b) get the new passport number endorsed into the PIO card. Should this activity preceed above?
From this forum I read that I have to have the original FRRO cert attached to the application for the endorsement to my pio card. This seems like a catch22 situation.
Kind of in a fix on how to go about it. Any advice would be much appreciated.
