OCI Question

Hi,

I have sent OCI application (Both mine and my wife) to Indian Embassy in NY for OCI. When i checked with my reference# online, it shows the status. When i verified my wife's reference#, nothing shows. It is been 2 months now.

Whom do i need to contact? I donot know why they are not showing any status my wife's application? If her application has any problems, will consulate people inform me or not?

Does anybody has contact# to call conuslate in NY? I called the # on the web site, it always goes to voice mail, i cannot even a leave a voice mail because it is full.

Please help me.

You don't have a habit of doing research on your own. Asking people around for answers on something this simple clearly indicates that you did not take the extra time to read the posted information on their site. Going into panic mode, as it is in your case, is not the answer in solving a problem.

Here's what you need to know. It takes upto 12 weeks to process OCI applications. Even if you did not receive any correspondence from them does not mean that they've forgotten to process your wife's application. One more thing, don't waste your time in calling the Indian Consulate. They do not pick up the phone.

For now, have patience and stop worrying on something that you don't have any control on. Your passports will be sent back to you in due time.

Hello, i did research in the web site. This forum is for to discuss the problems we are facing. If anybody have any clues, they are welcome to post in this web site. If donot want to answer, please keep quiet. Donot think you are smart ***... in this world.

... ASM did give you the information.

You have your electronic filing number that you got when you filled in the forms on-line.

As soon as they get and start processing in New Delhi, this number can be used to track the entire process on-line. You'll know when they received it, when they approved it, printed, dispatched and your local consulate received it.

I did not mean talk like that. I did my research on the issues. The way other guy started talking like blame others and give a little advice. People need to remember we are not a in school kids blaming each other. I was offended by ASM comments.

I just need to find out why my application file# shows in the web site, but not my wife's even after more than 2 months.
I thought if any other members in the forum faced similar issue. and wanted to find out. Indian Embassy site sucks.. no information or communication.

OCI process.

Gentlepeople,
I submitted my OCI application in Febraury, 2008. So far I have not received anything from the Houston Consulate.

I have spent close to $1000 on a family 4 for the process.

Most importantly our travel plans to India are in limbo now..


Can anyone comment on OCI delay if any at Houston Consulate ?
