PIO or OCI?

Hi,

We have a son who was recently born. We both have US citizenship and have obtained our OCI card too. My son has a US passport.

Questions is:

My son will be travelling with my wife to India pretty soon. OCI application takes about 3-4 months. PIO card takes 2 weeks if done in person in Houston.

Can we apply for a PIO card for my son now even though we both are US citizens and have US passports with OCI cards?

I am thinking of applying for PIO because it will save me time now and save me money later when I apply for my son's OCI card.

You can apply for PIO for him now.

You can get OCI for him later if you wish.
