Indian Visa expired..what do i do?

I am a sri Lankan passport holder married an indian in 2001 Aug and now live in Morbi. My husband never bothered to extend my visa and now even my passport has expired. What do I so.

When i go to extend my passport for another 5 year, they asking for valid indian visa. However, when I go to get visa for last 6.5 years they want valid passport.

For visa do you have any idea how much i have to pay for past 6.5 years as penalty and visa fees? they asking almost 50,000/-

Please help? is there way to get citizen ship for me. I am in big soup since i need to visit Sri Lankan to settle a land matter.

A passport renewal does not need a visa. Something is wrong in your case. WHat is the 50,000 for? Did you go to your Consulate?

Thank you for your reply. I was told that the visa renewal fee payment will have to be done in INR and I will have to pay past visa plus penalty for overstay and non reistration as follows:

2001 Aug to Dec = 3,025 + overstay = 1,395 + non registration = 1,395
2002 full year = 3,025 + overstay = 1,395 + non registration = 1,395
2003 full year = 3,025 + overstay = 1,395 + non registration = 1,395
2004 full year = 3,025 + overstay = 1,395 + non registration = 1,395
2005 full year = 3,025 + overstay = 1,395 + non registration = 1,395
2006 full year = 3,025 + overstay = 1,395 + non registration = 1,395
2007 full year = 3,025 + overstay = 1,395 + non registration = 1,395

Total payment of 49,545INR. Is it possible to get Indian citizenship by surrendering my passport I have lived in india for last 6.5 years. In that case do I have to make all this payment too?

Oops...My Bad. I thought you were in the US.

I am not aware of Indian visa rules. If they are going to be issuing a reciept of the amount, it probably is right.
