Reissue of passport in India

I have been in the US for 3 year - I am visting India next week for 3 weeks and my passport expires in March 2009. After returning from India, I have to go to UK in Nov - I will not get UK visa unless I have 6 months validity.

Getting passport reissued after returning will take 3-4 weeks to the minimum. Can I reissue the passport in India under TATKAL scheme in 3 days? Also, if I am staying with parents can I give that as present address and US address as address is last one year?

Is there a police verification under TATKAL reissue?

You could renew your passport 12 months before it expires. No point in waiting till the 11th hour on such things. Getting a passport renewal in India will take 3-4 weeks in any scheme at the least from experience.
