  • Birth of baby in US

We are going to have baby in december 08. I hav lot of confusion in my mind. Next year we are planning to go back to india for good. We are not planning to settle in US.

    1) If my baby is born in US. will he or she get indian passport?
    2) Will he or she able to travel back to india with Indian passport?
    3) I heard that if he or she become US citezens, there would be issues in studies in India.
    4) Should i send my wife to India for birth of my child. so that there would be no issues.

Please help me out with your valuable suggestions.

    Ah! The Indian move ...

    ...

    1) If my baby is born in US. will he or she get Indian passport?
--> Not will, but yes can get Indian passport if you wish.

    2) Will he or she able to travel back to India with Indian passport?
-->Yes, if the kid gets an Indian passport of course it's common sense that the kid can travel on the same.
Or you can get the US passport and get an OCI for the kid if you're of Indian origin.

    3) I heard that if he or she become US citizens, there would be issues in studies in India.
-->That is absolute malarkey and BS, I am shocked that people pass these rumours. I know a lot of people who have US born kids with US passport and are living a very good easy life in India without any problems.

    4) Should i send my wife to India for birth of my child. so that there would be no issues.
--> Why? That would not be a good idea at all. If your kid is born in the US, he/she has a chance to get US citizenship at 18 if he/she decides to obtain it, this is on the basis of his/her birth in US. That will leave the doors to the country open for him/her for future studies or work.
Please do not make such a blunder and take away the future of your kid.
Your kid can easily live in India for any time period you choose to, since you're of Indian origin and can get the OCI for your kid.

Good luck to all of you.
