  • Uploading OCI Photos

Since there was no update on my OCI application, I followed up with call to Chicago Indian Consulate to check on the status. I was informed that the pictures I submitted were not acceptable so I have to resubmit them. She informed me that I can upload the OCI pictures and scanned signature from the consulate web site. I asked her the URL for uploading the pictures and she said it is on the web site. I could not find any such URL for uploading the pictures and signatures, can anybody on this forum help me? The other option is to reprint the OCI application and mail them. I believe I only need to print the part A but I am not sure and I am too intimidated to call the consulate, I don't get any help there. Does anybody know?

    Instructions for uploading OCI Photo

    1. In case you find that your OCI document does not get printed within four working days after granting , then there is a problem with your photo. The photo is not as per specifications provided in the website, hence it has not been accepted by the on-line printing facility (Machine and not a man) at Delhi. Kindly take photo as per the following specifications : (i) face should be at the center of the photo and face should occupy 75% of the photo area. (ii) Background should be light e.g. sky-blue, (iii) Background should not be white, (iv) There should be proper light on the face...It should not be too bright, dark or reddish. (v.) If you have lenses, please take care that there should not be a reflection in the eyes, (vi) Eyes should be visible throgh the thick frames (vii) It is better that you take photo by removing your spects. Do not take photo at departmental stores, take photo from proper photo studio and take it in jpeg. format from them. Please also sign/thumb impression by thick pen (black or blue ink) on a seperate paper (not on photo) and scan it and send as a separate jpeg attachment.

    2. Please send photo (jpeg format) as well as signtaure/thumb impresion (whatever is applicable) with your name and on-line registration number by email to the following addresses: pic@indianconsulate.com, oci@indianconsulate.com. Request a read receipt with the email so that you will come to know that email has been deliverd to us. We will reprocess and re-grant your application. However it takes time, please call only after 7 working days of sending email if the status has not been changed. Please do not send the same photo which you sent with the hard copy of the application, by scanning. This will further delay your application.

    3. Once you find that your OCI card reached at Chicago, then you may follow the procedure explained in the enclosure for collection of OCI documents. You may come and collect your OCI documents for all the family members, however you have to bring authorisation letter (on plain paper) from the family members mentioning your ID (passport number) so that we will see your ID and give the OCI documents. If you are sending your passports by mail then please send it by FEDEX or USPS-Exprerss mail, so that you will get a confirmation about the delivery of your documents at the Consulate.
