Indian Visa Extension Details

Hi,

My daughter is US born and has Indian visa. We are planning to stay in India for 8 months, Do i need to take a PIO card or can extend the Indian visa what we have currently.

What type of visa does your daughter currently have -- tourist? I don't believe that visas are usually 'extended' -- they just issue a new one that replaces the one currently in force.

Since she seems to be eligible for a PIO card that seems the best bet -- no visa worries for 15 years!

Is it a tedious process ? do they give extensions easily

Entry Visa Extension

Hi,
My daufgters have US passports. They had 5 years india visa which was expired in dec 09. We are in Howrah, India now, I applied for PIO for my kids to Delhi MHA in Nov, but they replied this month to extend my daughter's visa first to have a validity of 6 months then apply again for PIO. Now to apply VISA extention, can anyone help me with the details?

How long does it take?
What are the fees for Visa extension?

I checked the MHA website for application forms and all but could not get above details. Please assist if any of you can. I am planning to take these to MHA in new delhi so details will help me plan better.
