OCI: Passport stamping

Hello

I applied for OCI, and the application has been granted. I called the Houston consulate where I applied my application, the receptionist informed to print the online enquiry form and send my US and Indian passport.

Question,
1) Do I have to send my Indian passport? If 'Yes', will I get my Indian passport back.
2) When OCI is granted, do the consulate inform you by e-mail (provided them with a stamped envelop), or via e-mail (provided during application).

1. Yes, you have to. They will invalidate it and send it back.
