  • Canadian applying for PIO card in US

    Hi

I am a Canadian citizen and want to apply for PIO card. I noticed that the processing fee is CAD $ 480 if I apply at Indian Consulate in Vancouver. However, the fee is US$ 370 is I apply at Indian Consulate in San Francisco.

I would be better off applying at San Francisco. My question is am I allowed to do that? Would Indian Consulate in San Francisco care that I have a Canadian Passport as against the US passport?

You're required to use the consulate with jurisdiction for where you live.

I couldn't find the jurisdiction info on the SF Consulate website, but it's listed at the India Embassy here for US states:

On the plus side, the Vancouver Indian Embassy lists PIO turnaround as 10-15 days, which is better than the US consulates...
