What is the general time frame for receiving the embassy acknowledgement of the OCI Application? It does seem to vary from case to case. I submitted my application on June 9, 2009. Received at the OCI Cell on June 11, 2009. Since then no updates. Also my wife's application was sent on
June 26, 2009. The tracker shows an assigned number and UNDER PROCESSING for my wife's application. What can I infer from the pattern? Is it that almost the entire population is applying for the OCI just like all US Citizens stampeded for the passport for travel. Please shed some light.
The embassy web page indicated a 45 day period when we applied and now it reads 12 weeks. Does it mean that the embassy recognizes the applicant as a registered OCI or does it mean the paper has been processed for submitaal to Delhi - printing? Please assist.
