  • Help with questions 13 and 14 on PIO application

    I am applying for a PIO card for myself and my daughters - all three of us are currently US citizens. I was born in India. My husband is neither US or formerly Indian. He is a British citizen. I am applying by mail to the NY consulate. Two questions:
    a) Can my daughters get the PIO card even though BOTH parents were not born in India?
    b) Questions 13 and 14 sound the same to me. Here are the two questions:
    Q13. Whether the applicant or either of his/her parents or grandparents or great grandparents held an Indian passport
    at any time. If so, details thereof: Name of the Holder; Relation; Passport Number; Date of Issue; Date of Expiry; Place of Issue;
    Q14. Whether the applicant of either of his/her parents or any of his/her grandparents or great grandparents was born and was permanent resident in territories falling in present day India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, as on the date of thebnotification of the Scheme, i.e. 30.3.1999, if so, the following details may be indicated:
    Name and relation;Proof of resindence; etc.; Date & place of birth; Nationality held; Passport details (previous & present)
    (Note: If the applicant is a spouse of a citizen of India or of a person who or either of whose parents,grandparents or great grandparents was born and was permanent resident in territories falling in the present day India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, his/her full particulars including date and place of birth, proof of residence, nationalities held and passport details (previousand present) may be given.)

    Many thanks for help with this!
