Indian passport expiring & US Citizenship applied

Currently I am an Indian citizen holding a Indian passport, but that is going to expire in a week. I have also applied for US Citizenship and expecting that to be approved with in the next 3 months.. If my US citizenship approved, I am going to surrender my Indian passport anyways. I wanted to know is it OK if I can surrended the expired passport (OR) I will run into any issues since that has already been expired (OR) should I renew it anyways? Please advice.

As long as you are not going to travel outside the US between now and the time you get your US passport, it is OK not to renew your Indian passport.
