  • PIO for non-Indians

I was hoping to get some guidance on or hear about any similar experiences

I am naturalized US citizen, formerly an Indian national (born in India)

I wanted to find out if my wife would be eligible for a PIO card. My wife was born in Trinidad and Tobago, but is a naturalized US citizen

If I read the eligbility on the ministry of external affairs website, it seems she would be eligible since I was once an Indian national

It should be no problem for your wife to get PIO. The main qualifiers are your Indian heritage and that she's your spouse.

I'm a US citizen with no Indian heritage but am married to an Indian national (currently in US with Green Card). Took about a month via the Houston consulate.

      Thanks for the reply

My concern is that I have, like all other naturalized US citizens, renounced my Indian citizenship
