Hello,
We recently received US Citizenship and wanted to apply for OCI. My wife changed her last maiden name to married last name during the US Citizenship process via proper court order. SO the US passport now has her married last name.
We found from various forum conversations that for OCI we need to publish name change advertisement in 2 news papers (US and India). For us, its very difficult to publish it in India and could take longer time so for now, we are planning to apply for PIO card since for PIO, we could not find any specific name change requirement such as above.
We wanted to confirm with the knowledgebase here that for applying to PIO in this case, we do not need to publish any ads and can simply apply with a new US Passport with new last name and attach all other needed documents (such as old passport and marriage certificate as proof of marriage, kids' birth certificates showing both our names etc.)
