Lost Indian passport & found

Hi,

Appreciate if anyone could help me on this.

A few months I thought I lost my Indian passport and then I applied for a replacement on Dec 17. Yesterday I found my passport.
Now, can you tell me the next steps I should take?

I m here on H1B and my visa is expiring soon and to apply for extension I need Passport and I94 form (which I now already have)

Now should I be reaching out to Embassy and tell them I found my passport?
(Or)
I can wait to get the new passport and show the existing one as damaged passport. Is that possible?

I have been trying to reach out Embassy of India, Washington (thats where I fall in), but there is no response. Can anyone provide me the numbers or email IDs I can expect response from?

Any help or info in this matter would be of great help.
