passport renewal at Washington DC

Hi

My passport is expiring in 10 months and I want to renew the same at Indian embassy DC and want to send the doucments via mail. we have to notarize the photo copies of the documents like passport residence proofs etc. as I live in Charlotte NC , here in NC notary of copies is not allowed. what should I do now. any one had this problem.please help me.

Hi,

In states where copies cannot be notarized, the notary usually attach a separate Jurat to the photocopy saying the original is verified. Try if you can get this done!

Notary does not notarize the copy or verify the the copy with original. Notary notarizes the signature.

Therefore, you make a photocopy of the doucment and write this on it.

This is the true cop of my original Indian passport (or whatever).
Sign in front of notary and date it.

Notary will write
State: North Carolina
County: Your county

On Februray 22, 2010, Mr. X Y signed this in front of me at Chase Bank (or AAA or whatever).
Notary's signature and the stamp.

I want to notarized the passport copy. I am in Charlotte, NC. I came to know that they don't put seal and signature on photocopies in NC state. They just put signature and seal on affidavit. This affifdavit includes the list of documents.

Will this be accepted at Washington consulate for passport renewal ? I am worried because there is no any seal or signature on photocopies.
