OCI and Name difference

Hi

I have a indian passport my name appears as follows

surname :- YYYY X YYYYY
givenname:- ZZZZZ

my first name and last name is YYYY YYYY. my birth cert, marriage cert
has YYYY X Y Z ( Y = lastname, Z = middle )

All along in US I used YYYY X ( firstname ) YYYYY ( last name ) my US
passport also has the same now.

While applying OCI @ the consulate they are asking me to advertise the
name change in paper mentioning the name changed from as mentioned in
indian passport to as mentioned in US passport.

But in reality per US there is no name change at all. Its the way the
indian passport had my expanded middlename in given name column. I do not
know what to do?. Is legal to print name change here when there is
technically no change in the name at all /

Actually, there is a name change.

Your Indian passport says your first name is Z but your US passport says
your first name is X.

Deos it mean if anyone changes their name during Natz process needs to go through this hassle when obtaining OCI?

If you have gone through legal name change process through court in the U.S., that is enough. Otherwise, you have to go through that process.
