PIO Washington DC Documents

Please help! I am ready to send my PIO application as a spouse but have a question on a document to send to Washington DC. I am a US citizen.

My husband is an OCI card holder (US citizen) with a canceled Indian passport. The requested documents DC asks for is a canceled Indian passport or PIO card whichever is applicable. My husband has an OCI not a PIO...Is the OCI what I send in the original? I would prefer to send the canceled Indian passport.
