Hi,
I have a situation and am turning to you for timely advice and assistance.
My passport has expired and I’ve already applied for a new passport application with the Consulate General of India. It is in process at this time and is expected to complete in another 10 business days.
When I applied, I put in my "married" name for name change with all relevant documentation requested by the Consulate.
But, unfortunately, I'm learning now that if I change my name in the passport, that would invalidate all the following documents and I must reapply for all of them individually -
1. Social security card
2. CA Driver's license
3. Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)
Since I'm due to travel to India on June 10th, this is not much time for me to get these completed. I understand that these will take as much as 8-10 weeks.
How do I ensure my name in the new passport stays just the name as in my old passport i.e. my maiden name ? (especially at this point , when the Consulate has already started processing my new passport?)
All assistance would be very much appreciated !
