Minor travelling without OCI reissue from JFK on Kuwait airways to India

Any one has recent experience of minor travelling on New/Old Passport without OCI reissue from JFK on Kuwait airways to India? Was there any problem boarding the flight or with immigration authorities in India.
I'm travelling with 2 such minors in a week and am worried since both the kids original passport, on which the OCI were issued, have expired.
