OCI application with old passport from father

Hello good people!

My question: I want to apply for OCI through my father who is Indian, can I do so using an old passport from him or does it have to be a valid one? Technically it should be work with an invalid old one, right? Because the requirement is for the relative to have been a citizen in the past at any time.

Will it be enough to apply with my Birth Certificate + My passport and my Fathers old one?

Please give me your advise! Thank you!

My suggestion - If he doesn't have a current valid passport, use the old expired passport. If he has a new valid passport, use that.
You have to try the application with what you have. The OCI application asks you for a bunch of documents based on your situation. Yours is not a common situation (at least for me.) So, give a try. You will find out what you need. If you have any doubt, provide more evidence than they ask.
