  • Part B - any member of family applied for OCI

Hello, I am applying for my OCI and I have couple of questions -
    1. In Part B question, if any member of family applied for OCI - my brother applied a couple of year ago, do i have to provide this information or i can say no?

    2. I am single, the checklist mentioned that i need to provide a letter to confirm this. is this required?

    thanks in advance!!

Hi - My suggestion would be just say no to the question on regarding your brother. I applied for my wife's OCI and said yes to the question but they didn't ask for any additional documents with it. So my guess is it doesn't matter if you say yes or no to this question as long as you are applying based off your brother' OCI card.

2 . Provide them everything what's on your checklist. They are very particular about the all the documents listed on your checklist.

In the OCI Renewal form, Part B, the first question is
      Part B -
      Other details of Applicant(s)
      1. Have you/any member of your family applied for Overseas Citizen of India registration earlier? Yes/No

It also asks for the reference number, application date and application place

Please guide me as my whole family already has OCI cards (me, wife and two sons). Do I need to enter the data for all four of us?
I do not remember the exact application dates as it was in 2006 but have the date of issue for all.
I was thinking of submitting the dates of Issue instead.

One of my sons has already renewed his OCI. So do I need to submit his new OCI details?

I have done a lot of search online but could not find the answer.

Thank you and appreciate your help.

I have the same question - we are a family of 4 and all of have OCI cards and we need to renew the registration. We are all applying for the registration around the same time. What do we enter in this place?

In my opnion family is supposed to be immediate family of an adult which would be wife, children, parents (adult siblings are excluded). So long as it isnt any of the immediate family you should be ok answering no.

However this is ONLY my opinion, not a legal opinion. If you want to be completely bullet proof, you can provide your brothers OCI info.

Hi, I just applied for an OCI for myself a few days ago and it is still in processing/on the way to Indian Embassy. Now I am filling up the forms for my husband and daughter. Do I put in my application date and reference number in "Any member of your family applied for Overseas Citizen of India registration earlier"? Also, what do I write for Status - Granted/Not Granted since it is still in processing? Thanks in advance.

Update: I asked this question to VFS and they suggested selecting - No - and not put my application info- as my OCI has not yet been granted.

That's useful to know that a VFS rep advised saying No.
