OCI info required

Hi,

I want to apply for an OCI but have a few questions before i start the application process. Firstly my father has been recently neutralised but has not applied for a British passport as of yet. The documents required for oci are photocopy of my british passport, photocopy of fathers indian passport and a copy of the neutralisation form. Does my father need to apply for a british passport before i can require OCI? If my father applies for a British passport his indian passport requires to be surrended therefore i would not be able to send a photocopy of his indian passport which is required for the application.

My father,mum, me and my brother would all like to apply for the OCI could you tell me the best way to do this? Should my father firstly surrender his indian passport before we start the process or can we all apply for OCI then surrender his indian passport?

He needs to first get British passport.
Then apply for OCI.
When it is approved, send both Indian and British passport to the embassy. British passport will be stamped OCI (U-visa) and Indian passport will be cancelled and returned.

Your father does not need to apply for a British passport. When he accepted British citizenship he automatically gave up Indian citizenship, and should surrender his passport. After surrender, the passport will be returned with a canceled stamp and clipped corners, as shown here. You can then go ahead with the OCI application. I'd make scans or copies of the Indian passport before surrendering just for safety's sake.

I will get my father to apply for a British passport first as this will be required when they stamp the Lifetime visa during the OCI process. Which pages of the indian passport need to be photocopied for safety incase anything goes wrong?
