DS160- Passport New or Old

Hi,

I am trying to fill the DS 160 FORM and have a question.
My passport expires within a month and I have already applyied for passport renewal through Tatkal. I need to go for Visa stamping for H4.
And I will be getting my new passport when I attend the visa interview.

So what passport number should I use for my DS 160. Can I

Option 1 - use the OLD passport number , submit the DS 160 form , book interview dates . And when I attend the interview I can carry both my old and new passports.

Option 2: Should I wait till I get my new passport for submitting DS 160 online.

Option 2 will delay my visa interview dates as time is short for me and I need to travel back to US within 2 months.

Pls. advice.

Either option will work, but option 2 is preferred.
