Spouse surname in my passport

Hi,
I have passport issued with my spouse name having surname as mine.
I would like to correct my passport to have my spouse name have her family surname instead.
Which is married surname to maiden surname correction of my spouse name in my passport.

Could you please let me know the procedure with required documents and timeline for the whole process to complete.
Also, with this whole correction process will I be getting a fresh passport with new renewal date or the existing passport will be corrected /adjusted ?

When I did it long ago, I attached the marriage certificate as proof. That is all.
