  • Renew Passport -San Francisco

    Hi,
1)My passport has already expired on Apr 15 and I couldn't apply due covid 19 and applying now, would there is be any issue of rejection.

2)Also when I filled government online NRI form for renewing my passport, I received ARN number and when I used this number to re-enter, using ARN number as 'Government Web Reference Number' its not accepting. Note: I have already completed CKGS forms up to payment using CKGS Temporary ID / Web Reference Number.

3)If I made a mistake while filling up form in 'Online NRI passport Application form' can I re do it? As I said above I have already completed this and have ARN number. Or do I need to cancel this form, if yes how do I do that, reason for this is I think I did not fill 'India' at both District and country for place of birth or I need to fill district at district.

4)Also not sure why but in my current passport my parents name has last name first and first name last, but 'Online NRI passport Application form' shows opposite.

    thanks

    Ray

Also I have asked these questions to CKGS, but I am not getting any reply from them so far.

Hi, I am also an applicant and no expert. But here are my 2 cents:

For Question2) Try accessing you application using the blue footer on website where it says "Enter CKGS Temporary ID / Web Reference Number to continue" and once you click submit, it will take you to Entering passport information. After that you can access your application, you can look at what options you might have to edit the form.

For Question4) My case is the same so I don't really know if it is a problem or not. I have sent application on Friday so it is still in process. Will update here once I get to know more.

        adboi,
thanks for your reply, but do u get web reference number also from government website or its just ARN number.

Also while filling CKGS application I realized I don't have valid proof of address to have printed my Indian address on the passport although I am not changing my address, its same address which was there before, but checklist says to produce copy of Indian address proof,so do I need to produce a proof if I am not changing address. My problem is I do have aadhar card, but it has my dad's first name as my middle name in aadhar card which I don't have in passport, so I am not sure it will be accepted.

Also do u know if I want to redo CKGS application after paying the fees, how can I do that.

        thanks

Yes I got both Web Reference Number from CKGS and Application Reference Number from Government Website.
So for mailing the address proof: I do not know the exact requirement but my document checklist says the following:

So if you don't want to change or update the address I don't think we need to send, but since you have sent it anyway, it should not hurt

          About redo'ing the application:

I think CKGS will let you know if there are any documents missing or need changes.

I tried calling them for some questions but CKGS is not picking up. I tried writing email to [email protected] but didn't get any reply. You can try your luck too.

P.S.: Just to be clear, I am not expert and all of the above I got to know from the website FaQ itself. I am an applicant like you

I am not able to open your attachment/image for the checklist. Can you attach again, r you keeping Indian address on your renewal?

For the application reference number for government website, when does it show that number, is it at the end when u complete the application?

For any questions send email to [email protected] or [email protected] (this is for san Francisco only), if you are under different jurisdiction then there should be different email.

And I havent sent my application yet, but I was able to cancel mine today and am redoing.

I have reattached it over here, I hope you can access it now. Yes I am keeping my indian address on renewal. It says that "if applicant wants to add/change indian address", but it still shows up in the checklist so I am not sure if they want us to send it or not. But I would think, it wouldn't hurt to send anyway, right.

For the government website, it shows the ARN as soon as you start a new application if I remember it correctly. That is how you can go back and edit the application in case there are any interruptions in filling the form.

Perfect, these email ids will be really helpful, thank you. They have just updated the status as received 72 hours later. Fingers Crossed!

              Good Luck with your application!

Thanks adboi. I had one more question. I saw that 'on government online form' on the first page, right next to signature, did u see 'place of issue, dated of issue and date of expiry' information are not filled, do we need to write it manually after you take a printout. I though website asks for all that information. Also on the checklist, do we need to check mark/tick-off anything, it came out with check marked on each line item for me.
                thanks

                  Regarding the Government Online Form:
It was same for me - It was not filled by default. I did not fill it myself too because there was not instruction to do so. I think this is just a preview of your new passport and they will fill out the place, date of issue and date of expiry. Since there was no explicit instruction to do so, I did not fill anything out there.

For checklist, you will notice that the tick mark is already done for you. The column at the end with empty boxes says that it is intended for official use only and not for our use. So I sent the checklist as is.

Hope it works out well for you too! I will keep this thread updated if I receive any response post verification of my application

                      Hi All
I received email from CKGS saying police verification request has been sent to police department (local office at my indian address) for my passport, I was thinking for re-issue police verification is not required, but my passport was expired too when I applied for renewal. Since I am not in India, do I need to contact the police department in India or they would just make sure that the address I have given is correct by talking to my parents and I do not have any criminal background etc.

                      thanks

Actually the request is not by CKGS, email I received is from '[email protected]'.
