OCI photo

I have photograph in the US passport which I received less than six months ago. I plan to use the same for OCI application. Is this acceptable ? I read in the FAQ section the photograph used in OCI application must not be the same as in passport ( not sure why ) . Since I received my passport less than six months ago, is it acceptable to have same photos in US passport and OCI application ? Can anyone please confirm if this okay?

Better to send different photo as they particularly mentioned it shouldn't be same.

Photo for OCi must be different from the passport regardless of how recently it was taken. If you send the same passport book photo, your application will be rejected and you will lose your fedex fees.
The reason for different photos is that the OCI booklet looks like a passport book.
The photo in the OCI book is also uploaded to MEA / Indian Immigration. Different photos prevent confusion.
