  • Renewal of passport

    Hi,

    I am applying for the renewal of my Indian passport for the first time as it is getting expired in the month of November 2010. On your website (/indian-passport-services-in-usa/indian-passport-renewal.html) it is mentioned;

    While completing an online application, in the ‘Service desired’ choose option ‘Fresh Passport’.

    For the same cause, when I referred to the official website (http://www.indianembassy.org/newsite/NEW%20PASSPORT.asp#1), it says;

    Application for reissue of passporthas to be made when the old passport has completed a period of 10 years from the date of issue. Indication of the date of expiry is denoted by the term ‘Final’ or ‘F’ after the date of expiry e.g. 11.9.2007 (Final) or 11.9.2007 (F). Application can be made no more than one year before the date of expiry of the current passport

    Please help me out to decide what to choose as an option while doing the online application. I did the application already and choose for the option ‘Re-issue’. If it is not correct, then how can I cancel the appointment taken? Please guide.

    Thanks and Regards

    What you have done is correct.

    Both of the sources are not contradictory. What you are pointing out in the embassy web site is written in the first paragraph on our web site on the same page.

      Thanks for the confirmation. I appreciate the same.

      I have one more question. I have taken the appointment date of 23-Jul-1o and I am applying through mail. Is it correct that along with the application form, I need to send two certified cheques in the name of ‘Embassy of India- Washington DC’ (One for the fees of $40- for 36 page passport and other one of $20 as I am applying through mail). Please guide.

          One more quick question………..

          In online application form, in the field ‘District/ Country’ the pop-up message says’ If you are born in India please write the name of the district otherwise write the name of the country’. As I am born in India, I wrote the name of the district. When I printed the application, It shows the information as follow;

          Place of Birth (it shows my birth city)
          Country (it shows District name)

          This is funny. Isn’t it?
