I just received a mail from VFS acknowledging the application and asking additional documents..
I am confused what do they mean by Oci application form? I sent a form which had my sons digital sign and photo and all other details.. what do they mean by Govt form and OCI application form..- Government form is not signed by both parent's and notarized. Kindly, refill the application and amke sure it has both parent's signatures and notary.

Strangely, I received a note finally from VFS saying that I am missing a document, along with the renunciation application. Apparently, something called "Additional particulars form" was not submitted. Weird thing is that this form is not even called out on their checklist and is not available anywhere. Upon searching the web, it looks like CKGS used to have a template for this form and so did VFS in Netherlands. How in the world are we expected to fill out and send a form out of thin air? Are we supposed to create it ourselves? Finally, after some back and forth, VFS emailed me saying that my application will be sent to the embassy and the decision will be left to them whether it is needed or not. I feel like a giant guinea pig in a diverse cultural experiment like a reality show being run on me.
Did anyone else get this "additional particulars form" asked for with your renunciation application? Is it on the checklist?

kiranboda Yes, CKGS had this (additional particulars form) in the workflow and that form would be auto-generated after you had filled all the online forms. Seems like VFS has no idea of the workflow or requirements of Indian Consulate and just put up the application system in a hurriedly and hap-hazard way. I know the CKGS process since I had done the renunciation process for a family member earlier. It had taken just about 8 days end to end shipping for renunciation via CKGS.
Now, even I haven't included Additional Particulars Form as it was not mentioned in the checklist on VFS site that I have printed and included in the application packet.
This is pathetic. An outsourcing company is involved to make sure that the process is complete and all requirements are met. Otherwise what is the user of having a middleman. So it is VFS' responsibility to make sure all instructions are clear. They are getting $20 as fees from each applicant and per application process (They would be charging $40 for example when you do renunciation and then apply for OCI thereby paying fees twice).

@Donald_Trump: I agree VFS made a mess. They had the "Additional Particulars Form" link during the very first week when they started it out. Now it is vanished. Very poor job from their end. I somehow included it blindly. If i had following the checklist, then i would have also skipped the same. It is absolutely their problem.

we-shall-overcome Did you include Additional Particulars Form? It seems kiranboda was asked for it by the VFS.

Donald_Trump I hope they are able to process it without this "additional particulars form". No use in arguing with them further as I will just end up spending more money on calls to their customer service center. I have sent an email to the Consulate in San Francisco explaining this in detail, I hope someone reads it. Even if they had hired a platinum outsourcing company and charged an extra $100 processing fee per application, I would have paid it willingly. This kind of cost-cutting to outsource the operation is very bizarre. Who are they saving cost for? Us customers or for their profit?

Yes, hope so as I am also in the same boat. Don't understand why they don't include this form in the main application itself instead of having a separate form that confuses people.

That's right. I have also not sent the Additional Particulars form with my application packet since it is not even mentioned by VFS or in the checklist. However if you check the respective Indian Consulates' website in different cities across US, it is mentioned under Renunciation process that Additional Particulars form is required. And VFS completely excluded this form from their workflow online. And now when they have the application packet, they are asking for that form from the applicants as happened to @kiranboda

no and its not even on their checklist.....additional particulars form was asked by ckgs as i have done one with them before. however at that time the online application was different. this time the online application was done on a different site may be that's why that form is not needed anymore..... vfs is really messing it up big time.....

VFS lost my canceled Indian passport and Surrender Certificate. They delivered it to someone else. The other person contacted me but would not send the canceled passport and surrender certificate without authorization from Consulate. The Consulate ofcourse never responds. Anyone have any ideas what to do?
