Hello
I applied for my renunciation a few weeks back and last week for my wife. I had 2 courier labels (From and To) for my application, but only 1 courier label for my wife's appl. I saw another person saying only 1 label was printed. Can someone help with this. Thanks

Mostly looks like VFS has changed the process a little bit where they are no longer needing applicants to send the return labels. Vfs will print the return labels on their end just like how it used to happen with Ckgs.
Tagging tinak who had the same question.

I have the same issue. I send VFS an e-mail and got reply today after a week. I called their hotline # ** 800 320 9625. Now they are not giving us a return label immediately, only from/outgoing label. After the renunciation, they will generate a return label and send it back to you. I requested them to post it on the VFS site to create less confusion for customers. Hopefully, that helps. I got this reply from VFS today:
Thank you for contacting the VFS Indian Visa, Passport & OCI Application Center Help Desk in the United States.
We understand your query regarding shipping labels.
We would like to inform you that you do not need to send the return shipping label it would be generated by the VFS Centre while shipping the package back to you.
Please find attached Additional Particular Form.
In case of further assistance, please feel free to reply to the same email or you may contact us on ** 800 320 9625 we will be glad to assist you.
Best Regards,
Vaibhavi

Can anyone help with this ?
On VFS site, Add New Customer section...
The 2nd field is about Passport number. Is it going to be Indian passport or newly acquired US passport ?
It just happened that when I entered US passport and the message was something like "Govt Reference Number (ARN)" not found "
and then when I entered Indian passport, it found the ARN and allowed me to go to the next step and submitted fees as well.
In the Application Confirmation email, I see the following columns
Customer Name -
Reference No
Passport Number - My Indian Passport Number (is this correct) ?
Govt Reference Number -
Application Category - Naturalized after June 1 2010......
In the Document checklist too there is passport No - Do I need to enter Indian or US passport no ?
It is so confusing on VFS site, whereas the Indian Consulate Site was so clear. It clearly stated Foreign Passport field separately.
Thank you for the response in advance.

No problem. It was frustrating for me initially too! Did you get any e-mail for your application status from VFS? I only got confirmation that VFS received. It's been a week now. According to e-mail they should review the application within 48-72hrs. It's been more than 72 hrs and I didn't get any e-mail yet !!!!

VFS at different locations have different timelines currently. For example, SFO VFS is pretty backlogged. Don't worry, just wait.

Hi All- Anyone faced this issue please advise. I paid for return VFS courier during the OCI application process. At that time they had not added the US passport return service within the process. So as per checklist I also added $15 money order for the US passport return. The US passport was returned earlier using the VFS provided courier (FedEx) label. Now MY OCI is available for shipping back to me and the $15 money order was cashed on 11-Feb which I believe was done to pay for return of my OCI. Now surprisingly today I have got an invoice from VFS for $15.53 for courier service. So not sure why did they cash the money order them earlier. Anyone has faced this and any advice? My app was sent to SFO. No sign of OCI being shipped back yet

Does anyone know how long is the processing time for renunciation at CGI, NY? The website says 1-2 days, but my status has been "Surrender certificate is under review at Indian Embassy/Consulate" for almost 2 weeks now. Any one have similar experience?

You need to tell them that you had provided $15 money order for OCI card shipping and that it was also cashed by them. I had also sent $15 money order which was used for my OCI card shipping. I had no issues. It's just another example of poor and inefficient handling by VFS.
Another idea (if you wish to go that way) - Pay the extra $15 that VFS is demanding now and then dispute the original charge with your credit card company (with which you had initially paid - this is assuming you paid by card) by providing all proof to them and you should be able to get the $15 refund. This way, you will be able to get your OCI card quickly and then you can fight the charge off.
