Renunciation Procedure using VFS

Hi All- Anyone faced this issue please advise. I paid for return VFS courier during the OCI application process. At that time they had not added the US passport return service within the process. So as per checklist I also added $15 money order for the US passport return. The US passport was returned earlier using the VFS provided courier (FedEx) label. Now MY OCI is available for shipping back to me and the $15 money order was cashed on 11-Feb which I believe was done to pay for return of my OCI. Now surprisingly today I have got an invoice from VFS for $15.53 for courier service. So not sure why did they cash the money order them earlier. Anyone has faced this and any advice? My app was sent to SFO. No sign of OCI being shipped back yet

They tried to do samething to me and my mom. We had provided $15 money order. I just sent the pic of the money order that I took before sending it. They then sent it. I was also at sf.

Thanks. How did you send the pic of the money order - which email?. And was your money order also cashed? I have the money order receipt which shows the tracker no which we use to checdk if it has been cashed

We had western union money order. One of the vfs representative emailed and stated provide a ups return label or provide proof of payment. We just then sent the pic. Our money orders weren't cashed when we got the email. We took pic of the full money order where it stated their name and amount. If it's urgent just pay them. They are very unorganized.

Thanks. I wrote to them and next day the OCI was couriered. Their response was as follows -

"As you have paid for the shipping through VFS Global website and have sent the $15 money order along with the application you do not need to make the payment and may ignore the invioce as its an auto generated email."

Hello everyone,

I am very concerned and upset with VFS services. Has this happened to anyone that they lost your Indian passport? I sent all my documents and they received it in Dec and I know it was signed by a person there and few days later in Jan I received email they wanted 2 more documents which I sent and they received in Jan and was signed by them. Now today I received a FedEx package them returning my 2 documents that I had send with a note that I am missing My passport and other documents which I had sent in my first package. I have emailed them but I am very upset and concerned that they have lost my passport.

They even returned with the return label I had sent so now they will charge me for that for their mistake.

please suggest what to do at this point.

My renunciation application was delivered to San Francisco VFS on 02/07 and received acknowledgement email from VFS on 02/08. No further movement/update after that. Anyone else in the same situation or any recent experience with the SF office?

I am applying for renunciation of my son's passport with VFS

While filling the VFS form, first name and last name generated in the renunciation certificate is interchanged. Has this happened for anyone?

First name: VIkram
Last Name: Kumar

Instead of Vikram Kumar, it is showing up Kumar Vikram in the renunciation form. I think this is a bug.

Sent a mail to VFS. Have not received any response yet.

Did anybody else faced the same issue?

Email - Please notice (reviewed with 48-72 business hours). Now I know why they wrote "with 48-72" and not "within 48-72"

I am trying to apply for renunciation and have the following questions. If anyone who have applied recently in san Francisco can answer this , would be greatly appreciated.

1. VFS Generates the PDF for surrender certificate with name in " Last name First name " format. Is this correct or needs to be reversed ?
2. In the government form, there is a place to affix photograph. But checklist says to send Two additional photographs. are we required to send 1, 2 or none for this ?

2) I didn't find anywhere to upload a digital photo, from what I read so far, its not needed.

1. You don't and shouldn't notarize the Renunciation certificate .Embassy will sign the form and will send back or they will print a new certificate and send back to you .
2. No need to upload any digital photo in Renunciation .just send 2 copies of the photo as per the checklist

Hi - I had some clarifications on renunciation documents would request if someone can help. Thanks in advance.
1. I see there is a renunciation certification form already filled in and sent by email when you paid the fees online and also there is request to fill 2 renunciation forms as part of document checklist. Which do we have to submit - the prefilled one in email or fill the one in checklist and send that.
2. There is a photo needed to attached on the application form and 2 photos mentioned in checklist so are 3 photos needed ?
3. My child was born in India and became US citizen due to parents naturalization. What should be naturalization date mentioned for child the date when first parent got naturalized ?

I had the same question. My (generated by them) application confirmation letter has my US passport number in it, so that is what I am going to use. The process is indeed very confusing.
