  • Made a mistake on renunciation form. What now?

Just discovered a stupid typo I made in the government form. I have already paid the fees, got the Fedex labels etc. Any idea what my recourse is?
I can fill out a new form but that will generate a new barcode. My payment is against the old barcode. I assume I can't just fix the typo with a pen.

VFS is useless - no response to email so far.

mojoshtudd Depends on where the typo was made. If the typo is in the important fields like Name, DOB etc, then, that won't be accepted.

Answering my own question. I called them (yes, the infamous pay-for-service number). They pointed me to this site https://visa.vfsglobal.com/usa/en/ind/refund-policy where I have to ask for a refund. And submit a fresh application. I thought this would be easy. Now I go to that site and it has a bunch of legal BS followed by a link to a fillable pdf file. No indication where to submit it or an address to send it to.

@mojoshtudd I am in the same boat. I possibly made a minor mistake while finishing up the online application for renunciation of citizenship. And it gave me the wrong form NATURALIZED ON OR AFTER 1ST JUNE 2010 - DO NOT HAVE MOST RECENT INDIAN PASSPORT - UNITED STATES instead of NATURALIZED ON OR AFTER 1ST JUNE 2010 - POSSESSING MOST RECENT INDIAN PASSPORT - UNITED STATES. I have emailed VFS several times with no luck. Did you figure out where to send the form to get a refund?
Their system doesn't let one review the form or correct mistakes or save the application although it has the option "retrieve the application"? So I ended up refilling the form four times and that's how I might have made the mistake and it's really stupid to have to go through unnecessary paperwork.

mojoshtudd I had a different experience of VFS having charged my credit card twice. I went ahead and filled out the refund form and then emailed it to VFS ([email protected]). They said 10-15 business days, but that has come and gone. I just ended up submitting a dispute with my credit card.

I believe that is a typo in their online form generation. I got the same form. Ignore it and fill it in. You did not make a mistake - everyone has gotten that same form which which says "do not have most recent passport".

What I had done was to ignore that checklist VFS sends in confirmation email completely and get the correct checklist directly from VFS site and fill it and sent.
