Renewal of OCI after after a new passport for over 50 and under 20 year olds.

Hello All,
I am trying to renew my OCI as I renewed my US passport after turning 50 and the rules state

“OCI card holders are required to get their OCI cards reissued whenever passport is renewed for persons under twenty years of age, and OCI card needs to be renewed after crossing 50 years of age only once, that too when the US passport is renewed."

I uploaded a bunch of documents online using the ociservices.gov.in site, then went to VFS paid my fee etc.
1. Do I need to print and resubmit all the documents again when I mail in my application via Fedex? If so, what is the point of uploading the documents online to begin with?
2. How strictly do they enforce the OCI renewal requirements for over 50 and under 20 years? Till now, I just used to travel with the original passport with the U visa.

The doc's you upload are for indian govt and I doubt VFS would have access to that. Yes you need to print everything that's listed on your checklists. VFS verifies everything before sending it to consulate.

ganpath67 My experience with for people above 50 (as happened to my Uncle) on OCI has been that the airlines are more strict in enforcement than at immigration in India. Emirates refused to allow him to board since there was a mismatch between passport number and OCI card.

Airlines are always strict and extremely sensitive with the visa/immigrations rules of the destination country as it is airlines' responsibility to transport authorized people and I believe they are fined if they bring any unauthorized person without proper visa.

ganpath67 You are welcome and yes, minor kids also need to renew their OCI every time they get a new passport. This is the reason I have not yet applied for OCI for my kids. They are on a 10 year multi-entry tourist visa. This way, I don't have to deal with all this every 5 years when the passport needs to be renewed.
