Respected Sir/Madam,
I am an Indian Student doing my PhD in University of Vermont since August 2007.
Last week i applied for a Canadian Tourist Visa and i mailed all the necessary documents along with my passport to Canadian Consulate,NYC. On August 2, 2010, i got back the documents saying that my passport is
missing from my application packet.I sent them a fax,but have not heard back from them in last 24 hours.
I am very confident that i had enclosed my passport with the application packet.I mailed them through the UPS Services and they claim to have delivered the packet without any kind of tamper. I called the UPS to inform them about the missing documents and they are carrying out another investigation after which i got an official report from them that the package was delivered safe and secured with the name of the person in Canadian Consulate who signed to receive the report.
I tried to lodge a missing report with Local police station. They made necessary calls to the post office from where i posted as well as UPS and said that they cannot file a report as the incident took place inside Consulate, which is outside their jurisdiction.
I am really worried as i do not know how to deal with this matter. The passport is my only proof of identity in this country and it also hasmy F1 stamp and I-94 card.
I am also not sure how to reapply for passport . I cannot travel to New York without a passport and i do not have a driver's license.
I faxed a letter to the Canadian Consulate urging them to look for my missing passport. The International Student Service Coordinator of Office of International Education (OIE)also wrote for me to the
Canadian Consulate. She too did not get any response back from the Canadian Consulate.
Please guide me regarding what i need to do.I talked to the Vice Consul (administration) and emailed him as well as The Consul. I have also sent them a scanned picture of the photocopy of my passport.
Please help me out by showing me the right way.I have no one in this country i can ask help from.
Thank you for your time.
