X Entry Visa extension from India and Birth Certificate Apostille

Hi,

My daughter who is about year got a Entry X visa entered India in Dec 20 and which is expiring in May 21. She was given only 6 months of visa on emergency basis since my H1B work authorization was expiring.

I am unable to apply for her OCI from India because she needs to be a resident India for at least 6 months so I am trying to apply for her visa extension.

Does anybody know if we need a apostille birth certificate to apply for extension or a registered copy from county will work? Her certificate is from alameda county California.

Any leads or clue is appreciated.

A certified copy of the Birth Certificate from the County records should work - at least that is what they accept if you apply in the US. Don't know if things are different in India.

Best bet would be to contact your local FRRO and discuss the case. Dealing with Indian bureaucracy can be a pain, but if you are lucky you might get a friendly clerk willing to help you.

What were the documents you submitted for the visa extension. I am facing the same situation. Had to come back to India as my visa got over. My son also got the visa for 6 months only.
