  • Applied OCI for wife and confused how to submit digital photo via mail

Applied for OCI on April 11th at SFO. Got the following two issues.

    Question
    1. I uploaded the signed letter for Father's name issue in the link they indicated below. Do i also need to send the same letter by Fedex to SFO location? The web link were they asked to upload this letter indicates i can either upload or send it by Fedex but the instructions below indicates to send by mail. Very confusing.
    2. How the hell will i mail the Digital Photograph that was already uploaded at Govt portal? If the uploaded photo at Govt portal was not correct it wouldn't have let me finish the application in the first place. I can send the Photos hard copy again but they are asking for Digital photograph. I uploaded a JPEG copy again in the link https://vfs.mioot.com/forms/In/USA/IHC-USA-Docs/. But not sure if that is enough.

    Please help.

    Thanks.

Initially My Son's Photo was objected by Consulate. VFS contacted us to send the physical photo and upload again in government site. I have sent the Physical Photo again along with printed copy of the email that they sent to us.

On the Item 2 that you have mentioned about uploaded digital photo. That system will not validate the digital photo size, quality, pixels.. So VFS/Consulate team will look into it and review the Photo and signature images.

FYI We took the photo from Walmart, they rejected the picture. then we took photo from CVS Pharmacy. They have KODAK digital processor has ability to validate the size, background shades...finally it was accepted by Consulate.

Another Point I would like to mention here that VFS and Consulate offices are very good at communicate to the applicant. Even though I contacted for my son. they addressed all questions, queries via email in prompt manner.

Thank you. Can you please share the email of VFS and consulate? I did not get an email for the two issues from VFS. I found the issues after going to their website and tracking the application.

Thanks for sharing your experience—it’s super helpful! The whole process can be quite a maze, so it's great to see how you navigated it successfully. It’s interesting that the consulate/VFS was so particular about the photo specs but still flexible enough to guide you through the corrections. Using CVS with their KODAK digital processor seems like a solid tip—I'll keep that in mind!

I recently went through a similar situation applying for my wife’s OCI. I completely understand how confusing the photo submission process can be! When it was my turn, I used a digital picture frame at home to display the requirements and double-check the dimensions, background, and quality before heading to CVS. It really helped me visualize what the photo should look like. We also had to redo ours because our first attempt (taken at a local store) didn’t meet the specifications. I agree with you about the communication from VFS and the consulate—they were super responsive and helpful with any doubts we had. It's great to hear you had a smooth experience with them too.
