Hi,
I had my indian passport in my maiden name. immediately after marriage i came to uk and never got a chance to change my surname to my married one.plus since i was as in dependant visa so we thought changing of name on the passport may hamper getting the wp dependant visa renewal every 6months hence we never did that. i was granted ILR( indefinite leave to remain ) last year and this year i have got my british passort in my maiden name( was not aware that i could change my name during naturalisation) and since i had the indian passport on my maiden name we thought it might hamper my OCI application. am due to apply for my oci.
my question is
1) can i change my name in my british passport now( i have received my British passport couple of weeks back with my maiden name)
2)can i apply for oci in my married surname then?(my naturalisation certificate shows my maiden name though.)
3) if i change my name now in my british passport am i going to be issued a new passport with a new passport number?
4) while applying for oci they ask for the surrender certificate. my surrender certificate shows my maiden name and the British passport number that has my maiden name. so if i change my name in my british passport and get a new passport with a new number it will differ from the passport number shown on the surrender certificate. will that effect the OCI?my naturalisation certificate also shows my maiden surname as well..
banks here accepted my married surname and hence in bank am known by my married surname.
now am having too many complications here somewhere they have accepted me with my married surname someplaces on my maiden surname and i dont want to have more confusion with the same and once and for all just want to change my surname into my married surname so that i can be known uniformly with the same name.
can anyone please reply to me. i am too confused right now.
