Got New Passport but Old passport missing cancellation stamp

Hi,
I received my new passport from CGI Houston today along with my old passport. On the last page of my new passport it has my old passport number date/place issued and says "Old passport cancelled and returned". But the old passport does not have any cancellation stamp on it and it has expiry date of Jan 2011, my question is, do I still need cancellation stamp or my old passport is already cancelled?

Thanks, I called the CGI Houston and they said it is not a big deal but if you need peace of mind, you can come to embassy and get a Cancelled stamp. They do not record this in their system. So I went to CGI Houston and got the stamp, in which I wasted one day and gas. The officer at CGI was very sorry for this mistake and it seems it is important to have this Cancelled stamp.
Also over the phone they advised that do not mail it to get Cancelled Stamp because they might think it as an OCI case and you are submitting your passport for American citizenship and would through it away, either sent it to a friend in that city with a letter or do it in person yourself.

Hope this will anyone in this scenario.
