  • OCI renewal after 50, where to go?

I got new passport after age 50, I heard we don't have to send any paperwork to renew it but we just have to upload a new photos. Can anyone please give me the direction, on which site and how to dig it? After submitting new photo, what is the procedure? do we have to wait for approval? if so how long it takes? can I travel to India meantime? Sorry lots of questions but I would appreciate your guidence.

    Thanks.

Follow the VFS link and it will guide you to all documentation needed and outlines the procedure.

You will be submitting your original OCI card with the application, so you can't really travel until you get it back with the new card.

The pos website sucks. They redirect you to the oci india website to fill out an application and the stupid thing just gives you an error. Been like this for like a week now.

please try using a different web browser. This has been the case with several people - try Chrome, Safari, IE, Edge, Opera (what have you until you are successful).

I am in a similar situation..I had my OCI issued before I was 50yr and now I am over 50 and also have a new US passport.

I just submitted from the MEA website https://ociservices.gov.in/welcome and after uploading my photo and signature pages I got a successful submission notification. I did not get any notification on physical documents to submit (old OCI or new US passport?). There is a question answered in the FAQ that starting Apr1, 2021 you don't need to submit (https://visa.vfsglobal.com/usa/en/in...I%20applicants) but the specifics are not clear..anyone go through this process recently?

Yes. We just finished applying for our adult daughter and NO original docs were required, only copies to be uploaded. Processing took 3 weeks at the CHI consulate.

Thanks. So, when the processing was complete did you get a new OCI book and no stamp on the new US passport?

Correct. New OCI book, very reminiscent of an Indian passport. Looks very similar in all aspects including the the first two pages(personal details) and the last two pages(parents details).
