New Passport (Name Change) + Old passport with valid Visa

I have a tourist visa to India ( I am an American citizen). I recently changed my name and obtained a new passport. Can I travel to India with the new passport and old passport (for the valid visa)?

Yes, but you need to have the name change documentation with you if asked

I dont believe ANY tourist visas are valid for travel to India currently. Only Indian citizens and OCI holders if I am not mistaken(one of the reasons we rushed through getting our OCIs done earlier this year was this). Please double check the consulate website for who can travel to india.

in any case when a name has changed, I would say either get an attestation the effect establishing it is the same person(old name vs new name) or check with the consulate on course of action.
