  • Q About Have you/any member of your family applied for OCI registration earlier?

We are a family of four and all of us are applying for OCI registration with new passport. In Part B there is the following question:

"Have you/any member of your family applied for Overseas Citizen of India registration earlier?"
And then we have to specify the Reference No and Date/place/status of each application.

Should I enter the current existing OCI cards information here or the new Registration application file number details ?

Please check if you need to apply for NEW OCI with a NEW passport. Laws have changed and you NO LONGER need to apply for new OCIs when you get new passports. I think this is fairly recent (April-May '21).

Hi, I just applied for an OCI for myself a few days ago and it is still in processing/on the way to Indian Embassy. Now I am filling up the forms for my husband and daughter. Do I put in my application date and reference number in "Any member of your family applied for Overseas Citizen of India registration earlier"? Also, what do I write for Status - Granted/Not Granted? Thanks in advance.

Update: I asked this question to VFS and they suggested selecting - No - and not put my application info- as my OCI has not yet been granted.
