  • Oci and passport surrender certificate

Earlier part of this year I got my OCI card and I visited India in April. I did not have any problems. Recently there have been reports that even if we have OCI cards we need to have something stating that we have surrendered our Indian passports. This does not make any sense . All the more so as we have been US citizens for over 30 years. Please advise what we need to do to keep everything legal because we visit India every year.

    Thank you

      Surrender Certificate

If I am reading it right, it sounds to me you need the Surrender Certificate only to use Consular services (OCI, PIO, etc). If you already have PIO/OCI you don't need the Surrender Certficate to travel to India. I believe all you need is the Visa (stamped in your US passport) and the OCI. Isn't this right?
