OCI Card - Renewed passport while in application in progress

I have been granted OCI card with my US passport but have not picked up from US consul in NY yet. However, before I pick up , I have renewed my US passport and the old passport has been cancelled. Do I have to reapply and pay the full fee again or send old and new US passport. Can I just send old US cancelled passport and collect my OCI and then reapply to put sticker on new passport.
I do not know what makes sense. Please help.
